Friday Haiku

It’s Friday, and that’s Haiku Day here at IGTBTQ! Because I’m full of holiday spirit and really strong Irish Breakfast tea, I’m going to have a Haiku Contest!

Here’s the poop: enter as many times as you like. I will have a mystery guest judge read all the haiku and pick a winner, who will receive a small but heartfelt prize. It could be cookies baked with love in every morsel. It could be a Barnes and Noble $10 gift card. It might be both…who knows? I’m just that CRAZY!

Here are a couple to kick start your own Haiku Genius.

My tea has gone cold

So has my NaNo novel

Revisions next week!

I’d give that one a five. Which is a gift. Here’s another stab:

Flank steak and chicken

Marinating in the fridge

Party panic starts.

Okay, that one scored even lower. Maybe a three and a half.

Our tree is possessed

The lights turn on by themselves

We’ve got the spirit.

See why I need a contest? My haiku well is dry. Help me, Obi Wan! You’re my only hope!

***Contest will close at 8:00 pm, Pacific time today, Monday December 21st.***

  1. Juicy explosions
    Crimson pomegranate seeds
    Burst between my teeth.
    ………………………………….
    Laughter in my heart
    Like a helium-filled balloon –
    The tears come later.
    ………………………..
    Faith can move mountains
    Hope will hew a tunnel through –
    Charity climbs them!

    ……………………………….

    My mind’s a gypsy;
    My home is not my castle;
    My soul’s a nomad.
    ………………………………

    Scintillating drops –
    Splish-splash! Water splatter-spray;
    Hose-pipe holiday!

  2. Friends are always there
    Whether we see them…or not
    Mostly when we don’t.

    🙂

  3. Snow falls in the east
    Fun for play, not for travel
    Stay safe east coast friends.
